FLEET is a studio space on wheels located on Granville Island until Spring 2025. Produced by Other Sights for Artists’ Projects and a team of artists and professionals as a collective effort to provide adaptable studio spaces for artists, FLEET seeks to create opportunities for artists to work in a range of cultural and community contexts.

This is a call for participation at the FLEET studio located on Granville Island.

Project Context

FLEET operates primarily on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwxwú7mesh,and səlilwətaɬ Nations, with studio placements throughout the territories of hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh speaking peoples. FLEET studio design and architecture was created in conversation with artists, designers and community members from xʷməθkʷəyəm,Sḵwxwú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ First Nations and Urban Indigenous communities.

FLEET is seeking applications from emerging artists from xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwxwú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ and Urban Indigenous Communities for artist residencies at FLEET: Granville Island. This is a self-directed residency for artists and cultural practitioners to develop their practice, create work, or engage with the community. Residency periods are four weeks long, and will take place in winter 2024-2025.

This project is generously sponsored by CMHC-Granville Island, BC Arts Council, and Metro Vancouver's Regional Cultural Project Grants program.
