FLEET
artist studios in Vancouver.
Responding to the loss of arts and culture hubs across Vancouver, FLEET is a multi-year project that is planning, designing, and constructing a FLEET of moveable studios for working artists. This project will place these studios on a temporary basis throughout the Lower Mainland and manage their ongoing use. Each location for FLEET will bring different contexts and opportunities for arts and culture programs.
Collaborative work that led to the construction of the first two FLEET Studios included surveys and consultations within Vancouver arts and cultural communities including ongoing conversations with Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and Urban Indigenous artists, curators, and designers.
Construction of FLEET studios is currently underway on Granville Island. To stay updated about construction progress and programming, please sign up for the FLEET newsletter.
This project is produced by Other Sights in collaboration with Germaine Koh, Cedric Bomford, John Steil, and Javier Campos. It is supported by the City of Vancouver, The British Columbia Arts Council, Canadian Heritage, CMHC-Granville Island, the City of Burnaby, and the Canada Council for the Arts.
